Miriam Chapter of Junior Daughters of the King- Junior Daughters of the King are girls between the ages of 10 and 20. We named our chapter after Moses' sister, Miriam. Both the Daughters of the King and the Junior Daughters of the King vow to live a life of prayer and service. This order gives us a chance to be faithful to our vow through prayer, service, fun, and fellowship. We pray for each other and for anyone who ask us to pray for them. We live out our service in the church through serving others as acolyes, prayer ministry, flower delivery and altar guild with a Daughter of the King. We also adopt a family at Christmas and Easter. We welcome any girl who would like to join the Miriam chapter. Please contact the church office or the directress Carol Hensley. J1123hens@aol.com. Daughters of the King- The Daughter's of King is a national order of Episcopal women who pledge to serve Christ through devoted prayer, service and evangelism. They are dedicated to strengthening the spiritual life of each parish and to spread the Good News of Christ's kingdom. Daughters are dedicated to prayer and service for Christ's sake. Our local chapter at Calvary meets one Sunday of every month after the last service of the day in the Parish Hall during the school year. For additional information please contact Susan Grotte, President at 713-412-4380 or come to a monthly meeting to learn more. For His Sake we pray. Shepherd Group Ministry- Do you want to know more about the Bible? Do you want to meet more people at Calvary? Do you want to spend more time in prayer? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then small groups may be for you. Acts 2:46-47 says “Every day the believers continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Small groups meeting in people’s homes were the first churches formed after Pentecost. This is how Christ intended for the church to meet and grow. They are not just another ministry someone decided to start…they are the way Jesus intends for us to come together as a community to learn more about Him, worship and have fellowship with each other. Calvary has small groups meeting weekly. One of the groups may be just for you…check them out. You are welcomed to visit 1 or all groups to find the one that is for you. Call the church office for more information at 281-342-2147. For scheduling information click here. Calvary’s Music Ministry offers two distinctive groups. The POGS, People of God, music group play at the 8:45 service. Guitars, drums, bongos and keyboard are just some of the instruments used to praise God !. The POGS offer a variety of music that is based on a theme or particular message for that Sunday. POG music practice takes place on Thursday evening at 7:00 in the sanctuary. Contact David Snow for more information at dlsnow@houston.rr.com. The Calvary Choir is a part of the 11:00 traditional service. Through hymns, the choir offers a more traditional type of worship. The choir practices on Tuesday evenings at 7:30. Summer practices may vary. Contact Steve Godowns for more information at sgodowns@houston.rr.com. Communities Committed to Pastoral Care Mission Statement: The Community of Hope's mission is to help create Christian communities of volunteer lay chaplains united in prayer, shaped by Benedictine spirituality, and equipped for and serving in pastoral care ministries.
