When you're ready to make Calvary your faith community, it's time to become a member. Membership is moving from the sidelines to the playing field, taking the spiritual plunge of commitment, going from just "showing up" at church to growing as a disciple of Christ in this particular place.

Being a member of Calvary means, first and foremost, that you are willing to discover the ministry that God is calling you to. It means that you are ready to deepen your spiritual walk through Christian education, worship, fellowship and service. It means that you are prepared to help share the financial responsibility of this faith community through pledging a proportion of your income to support God's work here.

We're here to help you at each step of the way. When you become a member of Calvary, you join a group of fellow pilgrims seeking to know Christ and to make him known. Welcome to the family!
As a first step, please complete the New Member Information Form . This form can be obtained form the Church Office or by downloading a copy. Additionally, you will be asked to attend the Making the Connection-Membership Class. At Calvary, we recognize that our members come from many different backgrounds. There are several ways to become a member. Look through the list below and find the one that best fits you.
If you are not yet baptized, this is the place to start. Baptism is the ancient means of entry into the Christian community. Jesus himself was baptized in the river Jordan before beginning his ministry. In baptism, we profess our faith, are ordained as ministers of Christ and marked as his own forever. (In the case of infants, the parents and godparents profess the faith on behalf of the child.) Baptisms for adults and children are held several times throughout the year. Contact the church office if you are interested.
If you are already baptized, confirmation is an opportunity to make a mature, public affirmation of faith before the bishop and congregation. If you were baptized as an infant, this is a time to say for yourself what others may have said for you then. Adults prepare for confirmation through the “The Way of Calvary - Tradition to Practice" course (see below). Youth may take this course also, but are encouraged to take the year long teen Confirmation Class taught during Sunday School. As an alternative they may attend Y.E.S. or HAPPENING, and have consultations with our rector. Confirmations are held when the bishop visits.

Reception into the Episcopal Church is for those who have been baptized and confirmed in another denomination. Those who wish to be received prepare by taking the “Confirming the Connection” course (see below). When the bishop visits they are presented for reception into the Episcopal Church.

Reaffirmation is an opportunity for Episcopalians who have already been confirmed to publicly renew and recommit to their faith before the bishop and congregation. Preparation is through the “Confirming the Connection” course (see below). Those wishing to be reaffirmed may do so when the bishop visits. For more information or to arrange for a baptism, confirmation, reception or reaffirmation, contact Fr. Frankie at 281-342-2147 or frodriquez@ces-richmond.org.

If you have already been a member of another Episcopal church, you may have your membership transferred to Calvary by completing the NEW MEMBER INFORMATION FORM. We will then request that your membership be moved to Calvary. We encourage all transferring members to attend Calvary’s “Making the Connection” class.
New to Calvary and testing the waters? Start here. The “Connection Class” is just that, an opportunity to connect with other newcomers and existing members to learn a little about each other, a little history and information on the physical layout of our campus. We will conduct a tour and there will be a question and answer time. This class is held during the Sunday School time approximately every two months. There is no need to sign up. Just come to the Solarium at 10:00AM on the announced date.
This class offers a chance to explore what it means to join this faith community. Our mission, our vision and our rich history will be discussed. The expectations of membership, stewardship, and exactly how Calvary operates will be taught. There will be a spiritual gifts assessment to help you find your place with us.
Call the church office for the next scheduled class.
This weekend is especially for those that are new to Calvary (or old timers who have never been.) It is a fun, spirit-filled weekend. There is learning and laughter and sharing. Its about seeing Christ’s love in the actions of our members. Its learning about the body of Christ you have joined.
